Minimum Requirements

  1. A BrightHouse connection to the Internet.

  2. A computer must stay on ALL the time, connected to the Internet ALL the time, through a BrightHouse connection. 1

  3. A Windows 2000 or Windows XP Operating System 2

  4. A firewall.

 

We Provide ...

  1. You select your own domain-name. We register the domain name for you, provided the domain-name is available for registration. You own the domain-name for the next 10 years. When the 10 years is up, you need to either pay the fee to keep the domain name registered (to the registrar), or let the domain name go.

  2. We provide you with a 'free' HTTP server configured to present your domain to the whole small world. You see what MicroCosmoTalk really means. Your domain running on your computer.

  3. You get a free server-side scripting engine, a FREE web-programming language, easy to understand with an hour of instruction about building your first web-page. We provide further (off-site, via phone, or via email, or via nntp) assistance as needed and requested.

  4. You get a free homepage. We supply a simple page and show you where to get some help in regards to presenting the page the way you want it presented. Then what develops ends up as your creation, not ours, as you develop the layout and the content that you want to display.

  5. You learn how and where to get free help when you need help.

  6. You also get Outlook Express or Windows Live configured for connecting to the world of newsgroups (if your ISP provides such capabilities). We recommend you hook up through BrightHouse, as other ISPs may not provide what you need to get this all going.

  7. You learn how to promote your website and learn some things about how to keep your website alive. We can not possibly teach everything in the short time we work with you onsite, so we provide some pages of information to help you out.

  8. We provide you with onsite installation (on-site at your business or home). We come out to your home or your place of business, get to meet, greet and teach you what you need to know to get going.

  9. And if you desire, we configure and enable an email (SMTP, POP3) server for you. Please note that America Online and EarthLink and MindSpring do NOT accept email from dynamic IP addresses. You may need to call BrightHouse and request a static IP address if it bothers you that MindSpring, Earthlink and America Online block email coming in from dynamic IP addresses. A static IP address tends to cost a little more. You need to contact your ISP in regards to pricing.

Other Operating Systems / Other ISPs

  1. We can attempt to install with another ISP, but problems may exist. Some ISP (AT&T, BellSouth (AT&T owns them)) constantly change IP numbers. Contact us and ask any questions.

  2. We can attempt an install upon other operating systems. We offer no guarantee for success in such situations, although for Windows 2003 and later, we understand networking the servers and configuring the services takes a little more time.
